TRADITIONAL ENGLISH BREAKFAST

Is it time to find an alternative way to making your fry up?

Who can resist a hearty fry up after a night of booze filled fun? A lot of people look forward to this morning meal, especially at the weekend. However,  there are no denying the implications it may have on your  health.

The English fry up was first indroduced during the  Industrial Revolution, and sat  comfotably amongst other Britsh recipes such as Fish & Chips and a Sunday Roast! We all know that breakfast is the  important  meal of the day and a full English is one such option. Howerver,  with our  society becming increasly aware of what we eat – the taditional greasy spoon is quickly being sidelined for healthier alternatives .
Back in the day people actually did hard graft, physical work where it was easy to burn all those extra calories. But for most of us noow, the most exercise we get is from our fingers and hands as we tap away at our keyboard working or playing Solotaire!

There is a lot of saturated fat in the Full English Breakfast and a typical  greasy spoon consistinting  of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, toast and sausage with tea or coffee;  contains around 800 calories  63g fat, 18g saturated fat and 4.52g salt

Most of us are aware that  complex carbohydrates are far better – a breakfast full of nutriments such as cereal. However, everything in moderation is always good advice. A fry up with all the extras is probably not a good idea  (and lets be honest who has the time) but once in a while – why not?!
For those of you who occassionally enjoy a full breakfast, here are some tips to making it healthier:
For starters grill instead of fry, but if you are going to try  using good olive oil. Eat  lean and good quality bacon and sausages; rather than streaky bacon and cheap sausages full of gristle. Lamb kidneys can also be an alternative to sausages and there are many vegetarian varieties. Other healthier options include   brown bread over  white. Also instead of tea or coffee, try opting  for herbal tea which is a better alternative.
